The fifth chapter in The Macallan's celebrated Distil Your World series following New York, London, Mexico, and Hong Kong arrives at its most romantic destination yet. Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell traveled to the City of Light, immersed herself in its perfumeries, patisseries, and Michelin-starred kitchens, and came back with something entirely extraordinary.
Crafted in collaboration with the Roca brothers of El Celler de Can Roca twice crowned World's Best Restaurant this limited edition brings together the precision of Speyside whisky making and the artistry of French haute cuisine. Four distinct cask types unite to build a whisky of rare complexity: sherry-seasoned American oak, sherry-seasoned European oak, ex-bourbon barrels, and in a first for The Macallan rare Cognac casks, added as the final, unmistakably French flourish.
The nose opens with freshly baked almond croissants, sweet nectarines, sandalwood, and vanilla pod evoking the morning perfume of a Parisian boulangerie. The palate is rich and layered: buttered pastry, brioche, peach melba, sugar almonds, and soft toasted oak. The finish is long, refined, and deeply elegant gentle spice, creamy mille-feuille, and warm oak that lingers like a Parisian evening.
Bottled at 47.2% ABV with natural color ā a shade the distillery has named Parisian Sunrise, inspired by the first light over Montmartre. Housed in a crisp white presentation box alongside original artwork by Paris-based artist Cassandre Montoriol, whose gouache illustration depicts a candlelit table d'hĆ“te scene on a quintessential Parisian street.
